old AR turntables..anyone know owt about em??

    so...there i am meeting my lady's old man for what is probably the 3rd or 4th time and the conversation turns to a his hifi set up - a modest bust quite nice sounding sony/cambridge audio combo..he then says i have an old turntable up teh loft if you want a look..cost me a bit around 25 years ago lad..so..he fetches it down and im instantly intrigued...it has a very thick plinth in like a teak colour, is quite heavy and looks like it was some serious kit in its day..anyway i said id try to find some info out on it and it if it was worth cleaning up. its very tidy, lid is unmarked virtually and even has the original handbook and i quite fancy it myself to be honest.


    so..anyone know owt about em? its just called the AR Turntable.

    we are best buds now :) never thought being a hifi nerd would get me brownie points with my possible future father in law!! :D

    just hava a look for it on vinyl engine
    some of the decks were/are good
