Opinions on this design

It still needs a lot of work but it is getting there.

Please note this is just a photoshop drawing hence the slightly cartoony look.



The search box will be moved down so its level with the right section, the news bit will also look a lot more professional.

My biggest problem at the moment is coming up with ideas for a logo.

 

i like it. very clear design. i'd be tempted to put "search" as the lowest of the links on the left hand side.

logo - how about an image of manchester, some icon of the town, superimposed with musical icons, crotchets, etc.? or is that too obvious?

the layout is reminiscent (for me at least) of http://www.75orless.com/
which is no bad thing.

It is just the classic nav on the left layout, I ususaly put the links on the top but I thought it would make a good change and it makes it easier to add links.

I will have a play with logo design later. I know the Music in Manchester text looks crap, that is just a dummy until I have the logo designed.

Yep I am aware there are similar sites out there, I have one myself, the screenshot above is a redesign of it. My site currently gets around 200 unique hits a week, I hope with a re-design and some advertising I can get 2000 a week.

 

Keeping it simple.

I like it!

 

Looks nice... I'd lose the border around the search box though.
