    All,

I heard that the Palm can be used as a remote. Can anyone confirm this and if so do you happen to know what software I might and where I could get it from.

    Regards

    Paul.

Any PDA with an IR port can be used as a remote, with the right software. The range will depend on the quality of the IR port.

Try Download.com and do an advanced search for PalmOS products.

    Yep, probably possible to do.

Though, think about practicalities. If you actually use your pda for work, for appointments etc, then liable to drain the battery life much quicker. Also will get knocked about much more.
IMHO, if u can afford it, I reckon just get a dedicated univ remote. Many good 'uns can be had for around 60gbp these days.

You'll get better advice over at avforums I suspect

you can definately use your palm as a remote - there was even a company a while ago selling the software and an irda widget in case yours wasn't strong enough. tbh though i use a kameleon remote from one for all. it's a bit heavy on the batteries but overall it's great. i'm also planning to use my phone as a network remote (via bluetooth) for my squeezebox once i've got all my music on it.
    cheers
