I came home today to an answerphone message saying I had not won the Mcintosh amp after all ............

At least I don't have to decide which amps to keep !

Still you can lose what you never had .....!!

    Bugger all the same .........

    You're joking?

I'd write in and complain, that's plain unprofessional.

...might get you a magazine subscription at least!!

I'd be penning a formal complaint and then going to the papers. Then I'd feel compelled to ship my cool looking monoblocks off to Ireland ;)

Bummer Pete I was looking forward to hearing how you got on with the prize.

    Pete....

in fact, best bet write to the MD of Mcintosh, explaining how much you liked the show, and how excited you were to win the mcitosh amp, and how dissapointed you are with the show organizers for building your hopes up, and then taking it away.

Does that mean no-one has won it? I never win anything so I don't bother entering.

Shit, my phone rang earlier and I couldn't pick up in time....and no message.

If I've won a McIntosh I'm going to throw a party and buy everyone at ZG a drink!

    Bummer.

What happened? They can't just tell you you've won something and then change their mind, and over an answerphone?, that is very unprofessional. I'd complain, not hoping for anything, just to let them know that this attitude sucks.

Thats a damn shame that. Perhaps next time Pete. Tenson thats being pessimistic, you should be optimistic. You won't win anything if you don't try. I think the best bet is the Irish Lottery. The wife and i have won more than we have put in i'm sure. Start off doing the two or three from whatever and after awhile well who knows. Jim.

Don't you realise that all these things are a con and no-one ever wins them?

They get away with it because they can.

I bought 2 lots of 10 lottery scratchcards over 2 days once, I didn't win a single penny.

The odds are on the card, around 4 to 1, so by that, I should have won 4 times.

I don't accept a bad run of cards, I would rather believe that its a con, as I know how these people work. Anything to get money.

    These people are liars.

    You have been tricked.

There never was any amp to be won, they just made you think so.

    that's the reality of it.

And now they have your details to sell onto other companies who want to know all about you.

What are you on about, the draw was being run by A Audio, who are the distributors of Mac gear in the UK.

Zanash prob just got one of the questions wrong and they never noticed until after contacting him.

Someone must be pulling your plonker zanash.

How can you be told your name has been pulled out of the hat and you've won the amp, and then be told actually you haven't won anything?

Either that or it's a bad case of wishful thinking or misunderstanding.

Lets just say ....that I didn't read the small print and they notified before they checked .... Can't say I'm not disappointed [in myself for not reading the small print] but I've just spent £3k on a set of amps so there may have been a problem there! just one of lifes little ups and downs ... I'm too old and been through too much to get over excited about this .....I also won three holidays and fitted kitchen the same day .....but as with all cold callers I bet I don't recieve any of them.

I don't think its a con ......but theres the posibility. The Amps not new ..its been hawked all round the press as I was told it was the review sample. I have accepted their decision as correct ...as I did not read the small print ....I hope the lucky new winner receives it in as new condition...

The prize amp was in use at times in the small mac room ...it was the dusty beast behind the stack on the floor. The prize was not going to be revalved and I was to wait two weeks before I could get [another review ?] So its not quite as good a deal as you might at first think...its worth a good £1.5k s/h but you'd need to spend £2-300 on decent bottles, I'd imagine to get back to an "as new" position.

I can't say I'm not unhappy but I've accepted their decission in good grace.
