Am I right in thinking as long as I follow the IEEE regulations in which I fully intend to can I add an extra socket to a ring main in a bedroom?

From what reading this am I correct to assume it is perfectly legal?

I do have plenty of experience basic DIY electrical installations.

If your DIY is like your sentence structure you might want to put a call into A&E before you start.

All done. It was a little bit tricky as the existing wiring was bodged in 1980. Basically there was no fly lead going to the metal back plate and no sleeving on the earth (was legal back then).

I had to extend the existing wiring (by using 30 amp terminal block) and put the old socket next to it as there was not enough of the original wiring to reach the new double socket (as it was no longer flush mounted).

Either way it all works fine now and have tested the entire earth for continuity.

So there no A&E were called, and there was no fires so far :D. (joke).

with what? an earth loop impedance tester or a multimeter? earth impedance on a ring final circuit (ring mains are high voltage networks feeding sub stations,i doubt youve got one of them in your bedroom) should be tested with a test current of 25A.Did you measure the impedance of each leg of the ring? Did you test the insulation resistance (minimum test voltage of 500v ) Can you confirm with your tests that the protective device (fuse) will still operate in the required time for the type of protectivie device fitted?
sorry mate but if a jobs worth doing properly:JPS:
