New (sh) MOnitor. Cheap as a cheap thing so snapped it up thinking it'd at least do as an in between...

Didn't realise my old speakers wouldn't work. They took power from the old MOnitor.

They were pants and fugly anyhoo, so looking for something to replace.

    Any rec's?

Im powering some cheap 2nd hand missions with a Sonic T amp.

    speakers, about £15, sonic T, about £25.

I run it straight from the sound card.

If you've got more money, maybe some active near field monitors with a volume control on the front.
