Alright guys - how many of you lot have seen Jackson's gorefests pre-LOTR:

    Bad Taste
    Braindead
    Meet the Feebles
    Heavenly creatures

All classic in different ways - "Meet the Feebles" is Muppets on BAD acid, "Heavenly creatures" is based on a real murder case from Christchurch, and "Bad Taste"/"Braindead" are two of the funniest splatter gorefests ever made. "Braindead" still holds the world record for most fake blood used in one movie IIRC.

Only three things I have to add to this:
    "Thaaaaaankyooooooo Norrraaaaaaah - it's a greaaaaaat.... HONouuur!

Aaaahhhhnuuuuaaaaal meeting. Aaaaaaaahnnuuuuuuuuuaaaaaal meetinGHHUH! Aaaaaahn... Aaaahhhnnn....."

    "YOUR MOTHER ATE MY DOG!"
    "Not all of it!"

"What's this then - diggin' up a couple of stiffs!?"]
    "Get his wallet!"

'Bad Taste' was a lot of fun, and exactly what it says on the tin. Seriously cheap, not much of a story & forget any character development, but to expect any of this is to miss the point of the film.

Watch it with pizza and much alchohol.

Braindead is f*cking mental!! I love films like that which just go completely overboard just for the sake of it.

My Dad's called Derek - and I'd LOVE for him to see his namesake - but he'd hate the swearing and gore...

The only reason I discovered Bad Taste was because we were watching a vid in our student house, and when we were rewinding it we happened to have the VCR on BBC2, when Bad Taste got its airing in 1994. I saw the blue Ford Capri and said to my housemate "I bet that car gets blown up - let's watch and find out!". Five minutes later, it did. We were soiling ourselves with mirth at that movie ;)

I have to say that Braindead is categorically THE most disgusting film I have ever seen.

    Mine too!

Does anyone know if there's been a decent release of Braindead on dvd yet? Decent as in widescreen/5.1 sound and uncut. I was looking for one last year but no luck!

My copy is widescreen (it's only 16:9 anyway AFAIK) but you WON'T get 5.1 - I don't think they still have the tapes? Either way, just buy it - you know it makes sense!

"Stand back boy - this calls for divine intervention!!!"

"Oooh ma - you are looking well today! How about a nice cup of tea - I'll just put the jug on. <smash> Oooh ma - that be yer favourite teapot"

    Braindead is most excellent .
I recently watched another film in the same tongue in cheek comedy horror manner from Oz called UNDEAD.

Another Peter Jackson film The Frighteners starring Michael J Fox bloody funny .

    Actually, it's "Aren't I lucky? I got a chunky bit!"

"Hey guys - you'll never guess what I had to do!?"
"Errrr - did you have to drink some chuck???"

We lived on those movies in our student house (well, those and the Young Ones!).
