I would like to build my own phono stage and am willing to try both solid state and valve kits so I can compare which type I prefer.

Anyone got a good starting point in terms of kits or maybe their own home-made designs?

    Thanks.

I think Hifinews also tested one of these a while back, and decided it was good - sorry no reference.

JLH has a lot of kudos in audio design if you haven't heard of him before.

Sadly JLH died lately, so we will have no new designs from him.

I have seen a design I don't think you could really beat.

For mc it has an ad797 on the input, passive riaa and an ad743 on the output, all in std configurations.
