Okay, we've had a major shuffle at work and one area that needs looking at are the trailers that need towing. It keeps crossing my mind to have a look at these pickups (mitsu animal, navara etc) as theyre commercial. Past experience with these things has been anything but pleasant (crap ride, slow, noisy) but its been some time. Is there anyone out there who runs such a beast, if so what do you think?

I did toy with putting one (a four door version) through the company but my accountant advised against it i.e. the VAT man would question what an earth a business consultancy company needs a pick up for!

When I was looking at them though, the Nissan Navara looked the best bet - plenty of power, reasonably performance figures etc. I also know a chap who has both a Navara and a 330i Coupe and he drives the Nissan most of the time - likes being up high etc.

Best bet would be to take one out for a test drive.

    Matt.

Still the same slow crap ride noisy and uncomfortable, one of my brothers as got the toyota, i went and road tested the nissan, mitsu aswell, are all the same. For the job they are made for they are good vehicles. Apart from the trailer are you going to be going off road and need to take a lot of equipment with you?

No, but I need to tow 2.5T which rules out cars. I dont have to go this way, Im perfectly happy with what I use at present but it could be an answer. I use to have a Shogun which was okay but cost quite abit and being a car I couldnt put it through the business. Im not convinced by these things but I might have another look over the weekend.

I get you T-bone, I would go for either the Toyota or the the Mistu myself, Not much room in the latter to drive. remember the the mistu will have a rubbish service follow up IMO parts will cost a lot of money. What about a Land rover?

Ive nothing but bad experience with LR, I use to sell cars at a Merc dealership and I px'd quite a few, I hated the things (no offence anyone). Ive just been past the local Nissan dealer and the new Navara looks reasonable but the prices seem quite steep. One other way is to go for a 4x4 based van such as the Jeeps and shoguns, but even so, Im still not keen.

There's plenty of imports around too. You could seriously look at one of the diesel versions with the big Cummins engines.
