I recently read a couple of alleged thrillers, "The Shark Mutiny" by Patrick Robinson and "The Teeth of the Tiger" by Tom Clancy. Why? There's not a great choice in airport departure lounges and I'd liked some of Clancy's stuff before (notably the dark-hued "Without remorse"). Anyway, both books were unbelieveable garbage, clearly both post-9/11 and intent on US sales, so they both say the things that Americans like to hear, such as lots of abuse about "towelheads", "Chinks" and so on (they, of course, being clearly inferior to us/US). We won't start on the cardboard characterisation, the clunky style, the stock villains, etc. So I wrote two scathing one-star reviews for Amazon.UK - and guess what? Neither ever appeared. Anyone else ever have that happen?

Well, I guess that's called selective reviewing ;) Big brother is all over the place ...

BTW when's the last time we read a negative review in a HiFi mag. ?

To be fair tones I posted a review on the hilarious David Hassalhoff music section (check out the reviews of his best of on amazon.com) and it took about a week to appear.

My submissions were made quite a few weeks ago, Gary, so I guess I'm not appearing. I don't have a lot of success with this sort of thing. On the BBC's "Have your say" on the attack on the US Army in Iraq, I wrote that the vile criminal responsible for this terrible deed should be punished, but as they'd just relected him, it would be difficult. That didn't make it either. Perhaps I'll have to learn to be kinder and gentler in my declining years...

I've never done an Amazon review. They do publish 1 star reviews though. I've had a few comments published on the BBC's "Have your say" but these days I don't really bother as it's not really immediate enough.

So I guess it's not worth reviewing 'MS Office 2003' then...?
