The mighty Robert Wyatt's biggest hit was "Shipbuilding", written by Elvis Costello, of course, and Nick Lowe (formerly of Brinsley Schwartz) has covered "Indoor Fireworks", also by Costello?

That'll do, although the song I had in mind was what's so funny 'bout peace love and understanding, Mr McManus is undoubtably the part of the jigsaw missing

Sorry, didn't notice I was holding everyone up...

The first UK group to have a Christmas number one in the USA. Name the group and the single. The year would be nice as well...

Nope. It's an instrumental. (Big clue.) It was a number one in the UK as well.

    Hi

    Wrong.

Joan Jett & the Blackhearts version was a cover.

The Arrows - 1975 :) I only know it because I was chatting with some mates from school the other day and remembering one particular 2nd or 3rd year school disco where the Joan Jett version featured which led to one of the guys saying he thought it was a cover. "No way!" we all cried but we had to give in when he surfed the evidence up for us :D

    Hi Michael,

    Correct.

The Arrows were a band produced by the late Mickie Most who were popular around 74-77. They had a few hits. They also had a TV show on Granada in the 70s.

    Over to you.

OK - I'm not that good at this so this one's probably a bit easy but anyway:

Which North American early 90s teen dance-pop sensation, with an eponymous first album, later re-invented herself as grrrl-rocker extraordinaire of huge worldwide success, leading her and her record company to do as much as they can to cover up her somewhat less "alternative" beginnings?

    Michael.
