I know that Bernard Jewry is Alvin Stardust (aka Shane Fenton). Had to google to find out that his son is somebody called Adam F, some kind of gramophone record jockey apparently.

    Hi Ian,

    Correct.

Adam F is Adam Fenton. The son of Alvin Stardust.( Shane Fenton/Bernard Jewry). He is a DJ & record maker/producer. He has made a number of Drum & Bass records & a few hip hop records.

    Over to you Ian.

Would that be John Zorn? I know he's recorded with M Patton, but I haven't heard of the other guys...

    Correct!

Zorn has, of course, recorded with absolutely everyone. Robert Quine is a genius guitarist BTW (used to be in Richard Hell's Voidoids, amongst others).

    Your turn.

Who upset Spacemen 3 by recording a cover version of their track Revolution and changing the lyrics to a piss-take of Spacemen 3's drug problems?

Google or not Mudhoney it was the offending band. Actually it's really funny (I'm sick, I'm so sick, of getting up in the morning, for that long uphill walk, to the methadone clinic...).
    Anyway you're next LiloLee!

    Hi Lee,

Nice question. This one threw me. There are more than 2 songs that have hit the number one spot twice.

One is Baddiel & Skinner & the Lightning Seeds with 3 Lions.
(The lyrics are slightly different.) 1996 & 1998

The other is Band Aid with Do they know it's Christmas?
(the 2nd number one was done with a different line up & was produced by Stock Aiken & Waterman. They were known as Band Aid II.) 1984 & 1989

Another song that hit the top spot more than once is Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. This was a hit in 1975 & 1991. The 2nd version was a double A side with These are the days of our lives.

There has been a number of songs that have been No1 then drop down the chart, then gone back up to No1. E.g. The Fugees with Killing me softly.

Also there has been a few songs which have hit the top spot each by different people. For example This old house was a chart topper for Shakin' Stevens & Rosemary Clooney.

Something that AFAIK doesn't happen these days in the twilight days of the single :(

Songs generally enter the chart at their highest position and then quickly drop into oblivion. Gone are the days of songs climbing their way up to No.1

    Michael.

Dean, I take it as a great honour that I actually taxed the modern pop equivalent of the Great Library of Alexandria :D

But, of course you are correct, so your turn.

Micheal, I know what you mean re singles. I wonder what song took the longest time to reach no.1. Mmmm may have to find that out.

    Hi

Sorry for the delay. I've been in the Lake district camping for a couple of days.

Which baby sitter invented dance steps to a melody she was hearing, which then had a song lyric built around it? The baby sitter then went on to have a big hit with it.

Name the baby sitter & the song.
