    Having now tackled a dozen or so different cable vendors on ebay about vacuous claims of cable purity ...thought it would be interesting to see if anyone else has bother to help put these misguided / ignorant / scammers [delete as appropriate] on the right track

    a typical claim is for 6n silver wire ....and goes something like

    Dear xxxxxx_audio_xxxx,

    Hi

    I find it very hard to believe that the silver is 6n ....on the account that no such silver is currently available on planet earth ....

    if you had said it was 5n that would just be acceptable there are two refineries in the western hemisphere make this ....though it cost more than gold ...

    Would you please amend your advert so that the less knowledgeable will not be taken in ...

    I expect its actually 4n and you have looked at the 99.9999% and thought that meant 6n which it does not .

    6n would be 99.999999%

    look forward to seeing your amended advert very soon

    reply being

    Dear Sir:
    Thank you for your correction of my mistake. My cable should be 4n. I though 6 'Nine' should be 99.9999%.

    Sincerely, #evin

    Or worse

    A large usa cable maker claiming 5n silver when it plainly was not ..as the cost of the cable would have been 10x the price asked ! ...both maker and distributers have so far failed to contact me ....

    Which means I'll have to contact there advertisement enforcement agency.

    You may not have notice Neotech have altered [toned down ?] there claims following some outragous porkies in the past ...yep that was me ....they now sell the same purity wire as everyone else !..there claim was a typo between Writing the add and passing it onto the web publisher ....

    my reply was don't you proof read ?

    Hi,

    N purity refers to the number of 9s in the number.

    For example 6N = 99.9999%

    5N = 99.999% or even 99.9997%

    4N = 99.99% or even 99.99%

    Just to reinforce the correction made above; 99.9999% purity is 6N.

    I would suggest checking facts before riding high horses.
