I bet the battery life is crap - I've still not found a player with a 4hour plus battery life - ie, overrating so I could get through, say, Titanic, on one charge...

A laptop (last year's model) with new battery would be a much better viewing experience...

Saw some dude on the train (on way back from Reading) watching The Twin Towers (on large screen laptop) on Sunday - even two tables back, and with my crap eyesight, I could clearly see Liv Tyler's and the other fit elf (forget her name - Eowyn or something) - yum yum. Very impressive contrast ratio as well.

I was going to say you can pick up a lapton with a dvd rom drive for that kind of money and it'll do a lot more then just play dvd's plus have better batterly life, not region locked, bigger screen. Nope I looked into these devices a while ago, and concluded that a notebook would be a better idea, and it was.

Quite easily, ok not a new one, granted, but plenty of 2nd hand ones out there for that kind of cash. Not that much hardship to carry around, just the footprint of an A4 page, not that heavy either.

Dom - you must be catching 9/11 fever...the film is called "The Two Towers" ;)

The other fit elf (apart from Arwen (Liv Tyler)) is Galadriel played by Cate Blanchett. You said Eowyn though....Eowyn is played by Miranda Otto and she is indeed a fit lass allthough Eowyn is not an elf, she's human :)

Agree with you about those portable players. None of them has decent enough battery life to watch more than one film (if that), so they're totally pointless IMO. What's more, I doubt you could get a DVD equipped laptop that, when playing a DVD (remember, the disc is always spinning) had any better battery life.

Julian, the link didn't work. Same thing happened on my initial post. For some reason the closing /url tag pops up in the middle of the link, before the ^ symbol. Deleting it and typing it in on the end works.

D'oh - right on both counts - well, that's THREE fit feminine examples in LOTR TTT then :) Forgot about Cate - mmm.... Yummy!!! Miranda Otto is wearing well for a 30something too :)
