Not quite hifi but can anyone recommend some decent speakers for my portable mini disc player. Im off on hols and will be moving around a fair bit so I need some portable speakers.
Decent volume and sound quality, but light and durable are the ideal combo.
    Any ideas????

    Cheers

I don't know that any such speakers exist which even meet the barest minimum of good sound quality.

I think garyi got some speakers for his iPod though, but not sure how portable they are. If you do a search for iPod and speakers (and garyi) you might find the relevant thread.

I got some £20 Ross ones (which take 4 C cell batteries) for Glasters last year. THey don't go deep, they don't go really loud, but they're not bad for what they are.

You could always get some active Dyns, break into the circuitry and use a car battery :)

You might want to try the Labtec spin series. They are sold as computer speakers but I use them for playing mp3's whilst on holiday. The later versions have the mains transformer built into one speaker which saves space. The sound quality is fairly decent (for a portable)and they can play quite loud without distortion. Usually around £16-20.

I have heard very good things about the Creative Travel Sound Speakers.

Check out the link below, and search on google for reviews.

Yes a friend of mine was given a set of the Creative speakers and he raved about them. He was surprised how well they worked.
