Built quality is excellent...and it plays beautifully. A friend of mine bought one and the DAC and I'd say they are unbeatable for at least 3x the price.

    Some reviews:
"Maybe because it is so small or maybe because it only costs $150, I was expecting something to be missing, something to be wrong. When I gave the TA-10.1 a quick listen, however, there was nothing missing at all. In fact, it reminded me a lot of the Exposure 2010S integrated."

a proper built thing you suggested would be far above the price brackets the topic starter mentioned. any of the hyped small digital amps would smoke most of the compromised SETs. we've had lots of fun recently with TA-10 driving both with real world speakers such as harbs C7 as well as with avangarde duos where it humiliated 2A3 monoblocks by tube lab audio in almost every possible audio aspect.

thanks tuga, i asked because i was surprised to hear about trends DAC, that's one of more eagerly anticipated products recently after the success of their small amp. i'm afraid it's not out yet, the link you've sent is for their USB/SPDIF converter that can function as a DAC only through a headphones output

Blackthorne - I can endorse the TA-10.1. Ive spent 35 years only very occationally being shocked by low cost esoteric hifi. Forget the power ratings.
I was gobsmaked by this amp, as were two hifi mates one a professional bass player (they have both purchased one also ) If you have a tight budget an want good quality - Start with the TA10.1

Yep, we set it up with a pair of small kefs and my jaw dropped to my knees...
Quite natural presentation with speed and energy - a great little amp.
