    Yeah, that's what the White House claimed afterwards, adding "for fear it would be stolen", which makes it even worse IMO

    But watching the video closely, at no time did I see him remove his watch himself.

    The version I saw on BBC news showed a close shot of him from the other side. He clearly has the watch on, then holds his wrist for 10 secs or so. After that the watch is not on his wrist.
