Its there best album, but like Jethro Tull, they haven't aged well and a lot of their stuff was mediocre.A lot if bands from the seventies are in the same category.Rare bands like Diamond Head were consistently brilliant and under rated imo.

I'd like to nominate On Stage by Rainbow, definitely one of my most listened to albums

I prefer Long Live Rock and Roll, primarily because I saw them on tour around the same time I bought it.Ritchie was at his baddest and maddest I think

You'll be going to see Ronnie James Dio when he tours here in October then, I hope? Knocks out loads of the classic Rainbow stuff, along with some Sabbath and, obviously, Dio too.

I try to,but I don't get to many gigs nowadays.I console myself knowing I saw all the great line-ups in the late seventies early eighties,Bon Scott,Phil Lynot,Gillan,MSG,UFO,Rainbow,Leppard when fully limbed, etc etc

No no, Hendrix was a fine (if tasteless) guitarist but he should have neither singed nor composed - the results were pure poison.

UH's Demons & Wizards is very good indeed.
Their Look at yourself album is a classic, esp. "July morning". Tones, get that one, it's like 20th century Bach.
I think 1971-1972 U.Heep has aged well. Of course they made a lot of crap too.

Well, here's another candidate for the best rock album ever.
    It has:
    1. A Hard Day's Night
    2. I Should Have Known Better
    3. If I Fell
    4. I'm Happy Just To Dance With You
    5. And I Love Her
    6. Tell Me Why
    7. Can't Buy Me Love
    8. Any Time At All
    9. I'll Cry Instead
    10. Things We Said Today
    11. When I Get Home
    12. You Can't Do That
    13. I'll Be Back

Tony me old mucker,I went to gigs from the age of 14,78 was the first year,Blackburn St Georges Hall and Preston Guild Hall, had no probs getting in.I went to The Monsters Of Rock and Donnington in 78 though,I think, can't remember tbh, maybe 79.In those days you could see ACDC,Rainbow and UFO all at the same gig.Superb.

My mates dad did artwork for The Gillan Band thats how i got in the early gigs, although I regret that, the Gillan gigs were mostly shit.

Yep,did Saxon twice,Samson,Vardis plus quite a few other thrash bands before anyone knew thrash existed:)

Gillan was better live than on vinyl though,Mr Universe had some great gig tracks on it,they just sound crap on record! Maiden did some great gigs with Dianno, and I also saw Bonnet,Bon Scott and Brian Johnson and the Johnson gigs I saw blew away anything I saw with Scott!! Rush were just awesome,as were Lizzy,in fact my fave gigs were the Lizzy gigs.

200,jesus,I did about 40 I think between 78 and 82.Krokus was the last one I think.:)

Theres a 747 coming down in the night,dur,dur,dur,duuuuuuuuuur......:)
