It could be a line sync issue. I have the same problem with metronet.

All I can say is good luck because in 2 months they still haven't solved the issue. I keep getting a call from BT in India. I don't understand a word that is being said but typically when they call I can't get it to disconnect so I just have to say sorry.

    Most annoying.

I would change providers, but I seem to download in excess of 14 gigs a month and thus far they haven't said a word.

Based on my own experience I'd say there are two probable causes.

    1. The line, though good enough for normal telephone calls, is a bit noisy for broadband. This may be external (BT) but also check the internal route from the main telephone socket in your house to the modem and see if the modem works better at the main socket (if it's not already there).

    2. The modem may need synchronising to the line. Check the web site of the modem manufacturer and see if they have a little piece of software that you can download to perform this task. If not, and you don't feel it's problem 1 above, try a different modem.

    Good luck.
