I have a Pure Evoke 2 (DAB and FM, and an optical out). Can sound excellent on decent bitrate DAB (i.e., Radio 3 at 192khz) through the hi-fi, but poor through its own speakers. I also have a Tivoli Model One, which sounds great, and a PAL, which doesn't sound quite as good, but is more portable and has a stereo out. The Model 3 looks like it's based on the Model 1, with a clock added, and is likely to sound pretty damned fine. Tivolis have an input, as well, so you can hook up a turntable if you like...

But if you just want something to wake you up, DAB would do I suppose, plus you get the extra channels.

I think charging an extra £100 for adding a clock to a Model 1 radio is rather steep, but that said I expect you'd be extremely hard pushed to find any other alarm clock radio that could touch it for sound quality... I've got a Model 1 in my kitchen and am very happy with it BTW.

I bought the missus a Tempus - and she loves it to bits, so money well spent:) Plus it has 2 alarm settings and a cool touch handle for snooze.

    Go for the Pure //lamboy
