I have the ARCAM A85 Integrated Amplifier & ARCAM CD 92 with the Dynaudio Audience 52 SE speakers.

I am considering purchasing the QED XT-400 speaker cables. I can't used standard banana plugs because my ARCAM A85 has a BFA terminals. Should I use the Hollow Z plugs or the AIRLOC spades?

I am also considering in buying the Merlin shopin interconnectors. Any feedback on these interconnectors?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

How is life in New York?

Im sorry, but Ive never used the connections on the back of an Arcam.

I know a lot of forum users have done though, so Im sure you'll get your answer.

    NB
Why not put some info about yourself in the 'sticky' threads at the top?

    Cheers

I personally prefer the z plugs simply for convenience -- they fit both on BFA connectors and banana sockets -- so if I sell the cables, change amps or put them on a second system I don't have do do any reterminating. YMMV

Any kind of hollow plug will do. Profigold BFA plugs (which are hollow) work fine (I use them in my Arcam A22) and they have the advantage that if you unscrew the plastic "shroud" on the front of the plug you can plug them into normal 4mm bannana sockets aswell. If you use QED Airloc BFAs they won't work in anything except BFA sockets.

Just make sure you audition the XT=400 first It's bass light and a touch bright at the top, just thinking about the arcam/Qed interactions. Wm
