    Hi Guys,
Have recently bought a quad 34/405-2 combo. Have decided to ditch the 34 pre in favour of a new Exposure amp... Sounds good, but some beats/sounds are a little off..

I have read in a few places that the 405-2 is a phase inverting amplifier, and that if it used with non quad pre that does not pass on a phase inverted signal the speakers polarity needs to be swapped to accomodate this.

    Is this true?

try a reversal and if it works for you, fine - keep it like that.

I have owned this amp many years ago but never noticed it was phase inverting

Either the Exposure 23 phase inverts aswell or this is baloney... After some careful listening, wiring the speakers up in phase on both the amp and speaker end (non inversion) provides a fuller sound, particularly in the bass regions. Other than that though, not much differance... Think i'll stick with it this way :)
