RCA vs XLR

    Do XLR connections have any benefit over RCA connections, using cable lengths of 1m.

    I tried both on my nad and didn't think XLR were better,Over longer runs XLR would have it

    i asked the same question a few months ago....depends if its a fully balanced connection or not iirc. Certainly my Black Rhodium XLRs sound better than the BR RCAs made of the same material

    Hi,

    Correctly implemented balanced connections eliminate a number of issues linked got earth/ground/noise loops present with unbalanced connections.

    In order for this to be the case though the balanced implementation must be such that very high resilience to common mode and ground noise is present. In most "HiFi" gear the balanced implementation is not implemented in that form.
