Actually I have to confess that the best feature on the M3 is the paired twin exhausts. That's the part most people will see, after all.

    andy,
yes i saw one in bedford last week. i would agree with you wholeheartedly that it is indeed vomit inducing in its awfulness.
    bub,
of course that's not counting all the time you'll spend stuck behind a 1988 fiat uno in traffic every day to work (or the golf course - gotta love those stereotypes dontcha?).
    cheers

Yeah never thought of that but most 3 series don't have quad exhaust, although saying that most other drivers won't see much of the front of a 3 series as they are usually right up yer chuff, and cannot be seen from your rear view mirror, even when there isn't any place for the car in front to go.

Hi penance, yes but how about your back seats...room for two kids?

My hi-fi dealer used to have some obscenely-fast sports bike or other. He told me that he was somewhat shocked that an M3 kept up with him when he gave it some beans.

Not surprised would think that high powered sports bike would be lot faster with petrol!

Imagine that though an M3 couldn't even keep up with a bike run on beans!

    1 back seat is enough:)

Alan's kinda big maybe he blunted the performance:) No Alan was not giving it large as IMMSMC even a 600 sport bike will do the ton in less than 10 secs whcih is much quicker than M3 the only performance area where M3 would beat a good sports bike is in the braking, and would prolly go round corners faster if driver and rider were not very experienced. The only cars that come close or even beat the sports bikes are the track focused superlights, caterham, westfield etc, and thoroughbread racing cars. And this from a car nut so no bias from me towards bikes, I prefer the mechanics of car control to those required for bike.

IMHO the A4 is the nicest looking, but when I was going to order one and sat on it, I found the interior very poor looking, no apparent quality, BMWs just "scare" me away because I do find them a bit snobish, wich doesnt mean every owner is...

In the end I bought the Merc C200 kompressor sport coupe, ugly behind, but real quality and confort, and it isn't a slouch, actually very torquy... :MILD:

    13 quid every 3 weeks :)
Im not knocking cars realy, but i do feel my chosen transport is more economical and less polluting than cars. Obviously not having a fammily is an advantage, else i would have to get the dreaded 4 wheel cage.

Not round here they dont James! BMW drivers fully live up to their stereotype

In any case, a BMW is not really a car that reflects the true standing in society of someone in your profession James! I would have thought a nice E Class merc would be far more suitable, much better for taking your doctor chums to the golf club on a Sunday morning.

Antonio the rest of the world seems to think the opposite of you again, it is pretty plain to see that Audi makes the best interiors, the merc on th other hand is cheap and plstically by comparison, the beemer is close to the audi for quality, but Merc is way behind.

PS I'm not arguing with you I'm telling you you are way off the mark ont this one antonio and if ye don't wanrt ot look daft don't even go there:)

For once, I almost agree with Antonio:eek:

Having had a close good look at the A4 whilst in the process of getting a new car, I dont go along with that. The A4 didnt inspire me at all unfortunately. We wouldnt even consider a bimmer due to the image problems, and so we ended up with a Merc C320. Much nicer IMO.

Yeah but the ok design aside the quality of finish, quality of plastics and fit thereof is much better in the A4 than especially the merc . drove a 220cdi, elegance for 8 months with another company and althought the ride is good the quality just isn't as good as A4

I am not going to argue about the quality of the Audi interior, however the powerful, super smooth V6 engine mated to the best slush box around and the superb ride makes for a supremely relaxing drive. Its great just wafting around! The Audi didnt compete for me in this area.

Merc does need to look at reliability/ build quality though, although nothing wrong with mine yet. (bought s/h btw)
