Hey Robbo mines a co car so don't have choice of v6 and you are correct about merc slushboxes, we are of course arguing over the details as all of the cars mentioned are extremely nice. BTW if mine weren't company cars theres no way I'd buy new would allways go s/h or exdem.

If Freud was reading this thread, I feel urine would be trickling down his right leg at this precise moment :D
Prehaps Justice will be served on Beemer owners when judgement day arrives, being forced to labour in the tar pits of the 666th layer of the Abyss for all eternity under the watchful eye of demon king Demigorgon. Though I just settle for rear end shunt with a Tank recovery vehicle :)
wishful thinking, bwm wannabe's (well built to be fair) motors nothing more.

True WM, in much the same way as the Strata is a wannabe.

In fact the parallel between the Merc C200 Coupe and the Rel is I feel apt. Both worthy in their own right but neither really belongs in the company of true performance designs.

Now it looks like I may be able to nab a Tact for a weekend! So if you are up for it, I'd love to drop by and take some measurements for the forumites' digestion.

I feel bananas should only be mumbled if you have the requisite banana wear. Possbily one of the previously mentioned holders but you must choose the appropriate colour.

Ultimately I'd say the problem with Audi is it shares bits with my Skidder, sorry mean Skoda. Much as I love it it isn't a luxury car. Mind you if mine grew up overnight and became an Audi I wouldn't complain
My brother had a Bimmer, drove it once finished up with back ache and couldn't get on with the clutch. Looked very nice though

Dont overlook the view that whilst the 3 series BMW is as ubiquitous as air and the M3 is the objective of vast swathes of the chav populus with spending power, the straight six 3.2 normally aspirated engine puts out 340 bhp (over 100 bhp per litre). Audi had to slot in their 4.2 V8 into the new S4 to better the output (by 1bhp). In engineering terms the BMW Motorsport division's contribution to the 3 series is admirable. Its just a shame its so common. On the other hand take my Clio 182, nippy economical, fun, superb handling (with the cup suspension) - cost me 10750 brand new, unregistered (dont ask me how). Bargain and unpretentious (but again pretty chav).
