Yes , I can see your point, getting bitch slapped by your own handbag at 85 mph with the roof down, would be a touch embarassing at the local blue oyster club :D

This is the most apposite post I have read so far in this thread - possibly ever. Is so concise, but sums up so much, brims over with humour and smut and places itself squarely in the cannon of the post-post-modern relationist movement. In fact I am going to start using the word "wankel" more. Penance you have made my day - I'm quite serious.

Yes but 1.6 seconds may not sound very much on paper, but it makes a massive difference on the road. The figures show the M3 is hugely faster than the others. I've driven a 330ci, and it was about as fast as the 328i, (which Top Gear clocked at 6.5 to 60 when it first came out).

WM still banging your lonely drum. "I can't have, so I don't want, so there!" BB-stylee tantrum next.

I can see that my good man. The M3 is awesome - supercar performance in a fairly practical form - great value too - what else can you buy with that power/performance and build quality for the money?

As for chavs driving them - what nonsense - a chav might be able to stretch to an old E36 318iS but the chavs only drive M3's on their knocked-off Playstations.

I'd also say that I haven't seen any tossers driving new shape M3's - there must be a few for sure but a tiny percentage compared to the Boxster brigade. Boxster - now there's a common car - and I can never take ragtops that seriously - I mean who'd chose a 911 or M3 cabrio over a coupe? Answer: the sort of people buy these cars for posing rather than driving.

The only bloke I met who had an E46 M3 was a guy I sold some speakers to up in Sheffield - thoroughly nice fellow, ran his own small IT firm, family man etc. Damn jealous of his car though - in my favourite colours too - Steel grey with red leather.

And what is this nonsense about inadequite (or, worse, underendowed) people buying M3's? - this is schoolboy jibes going back to the days when it was said that people with small members bough Capri's as the long bonnet made up for their lack of inches!

When I had £20K to spend on a performance car a few years back I went out an bought an Impreza Turbo as it was the best choice for the money in my book. If I had double that to spend on a performance car today (and I don't regrettably) then I'd buy an M3 without a second thought.

    Matt.

Interestingly the Clio 182 is listed by Renault as 7.1 0-60. Autocar clocked it at 6.3. I havent timed it myself yet <rubs hand together vigorously> :D
