    No they had been put there by a piledriver. Maybe you could try one of those on the problem area

    We must be careful that this thread doesn't become anally obsessed. I think we should consider the teachings of Freud, and having done so I think that there may be something Freudian about the need for a subwoofer, a sort of inadequacey that stems from feeling short changed in the trouser department. Maybe that's why they all have such masculine names, Quake, Vulcan.... Indeed this could link back to the discussion re Pikeys and Bass bins in the boot. What do you think old bean?

    That's why I have simple floorstanders and a Skoda. Maybe the number of additional inches required is matched by the number of additional woofers. Could I suggest a formula be drawn up, along the lines of;

    LW = CL + W + CC
    Where LW is length wanted
    CL is current length
    W is number of woofers owned
    CC is the size of engine in vehicle

    Haven’t got the scooby any more Tone. I bought it at the end of ’98 ‘twas a ‘99 model 215bhp (or so they’d have the insurance companies believe) i.e. the last of the first shape ones. Ran it for 3 and a bit years, had a lot of fun and spent a fortune on fuel, tyres and servicing.

    Got a far more sensible 320DSE now. Yes I miss the 5.3 secs 0-60 time of the Scooby but I don’t miss 24mpg – the BM does 45mpg with my heavy right foot. Other than the scooby’s rocketship acceleration and limpet like road-holding the BM’s way better – it’s not a bad handler even in standard form and the impressive 242lbs/ft of torque at 2000 revs makes it feel faster than it’s 8.9 secs to 60 would have you believe. For real world driving (and particularly on the motorway) and with the price of fuel in the UK it takes a lot of beating – such an easy, relaxing drive with that kind of torque – you don’t have to work hard to make it go fast.

    Matt.
