I wondered if it it was in trouble for pretending to be a woofer. Mind you I bet some of those over thirty woofers have got bigger pussies than that

Typical REL really - great (lucky in this case) marketing/brand awareness - I mean, the Quake is their cheapest/least impressive sub and yet there is now a lengendary thread about it (well, only a little bit about it in reality) on the infamous Zerogain forum.

As for subs in boots of cars - nothing wrong with this in theory but to avoid 'chavness' you need to go for a small (no more than 10") quality sub e.g. JL Audio W3/W6 etc in a small enclosure driven by a discrete but powerful amp. That was my excuse for the one I had in the scooby anyway and I'm sticking to it.

    Matt.

May I suggest that someone of the Devils eminence should be driving something more sophisticated than a Bimmer. How about a Jaguar[IMG]

I just want to add I have actually reduced the size of my sub,its a 10" but the enclosure is less Chav, although the PS1 is infinately chav (and I have 2 discreet amps,as Matt says, these are anti-chav excuses though, admittedly)

are you remapping the 320 Matt?

bub, buy whatever car you want, you've made it perfectly clear that you don't care that all the world will make assumptions about your masturbatory habits if you buy a beemer. so that's ok. if i were you i'd get something really cheap and replace that clapped out old turntable you've got but that's just me i guess.

oh yeah as this thread has been likened to a conversation down the pub, has anyone else seen the reposte that rg made in this months hf+. aparently the absoulte sound had a similar rant so he must be right about forums being the online equivalent of combined brothels and opium dens. furry muff but i bet they are more fun than sitting alone having a 'bmw' which is the equivalent of reading a magazine.
    cheers

Don't know but a few questions:

    1. Who can do it?
    2. How much would it cost?
    3. What are the bhp/torque/performance gains?
    4. Will mpg be adversely affected?
    5. Would I need to tell the insurers?

Basically - is it worth doing?

    Cheers,

    Matt.

    matt,
yes you should tell your insurers. they'll try to weasel out of paying out any way they can.

The little minx. Do you think Mana might help my engine, if I replaced the engine mountings with it do you think it would absorb the vibration better?

    Matt

AMD can do it,and its the torque gains that will give it real world speed, you will never need to change gear and if you can live with the girly amount of revs the car will feel quick:).It will about £500,this link is for the 330d

    http://www.auto-amd.com/bmw330d.asp

me mate tells me they are working on the 320 map now i think,i will email him and find out

and always tell the insurance company.if you write the car off, they will more than likely ask for the Ecu,and you are then ****ed

as for mpg,you will use more when driving like a madman, but may gain around town,or the other way round,i forget

You'll have to tell the insurerers and it may mean you have to find a specialist. Companies like Direct Line won't touch modded cars, I asked them about putting a new chip in my Skoda and there was no way
