Many years ago the Lexus LS400 owners claim it is the quietest car then. These got me thinking. This should have great benefit from the point of view of trying to enjoy your music when driving. Especially with classical, I never find it easy to hear the quieter passages. Is this at least one good side effect of owning one of these or other 'snob' cars then? If this is the case I might be a bit more partial as everything should have a 'measurable' purpose.

the lexus is a very quiet car and coupled with the really good standard fit i.c.e. makes for a better than average listening experience. even with the sunroof open or the ac on there is very little cabin noise just a bit of a low roar from the engine if you nudge it over 100mph.
the main advantages to the lexus for me though were that it cost 4.5k to buy, was a big comfy car (i weighed 25 stone at that point and am 6ft 2 tall) and was as fast as my previous car (if not faster). the image, silence and decent handling (for 2 tons of lump iron) were unexpected bonusses. the electric steering adjustment is pretty trick too.
    cheers

Julian, Thanks for the reply. I wonder how the newer and lower down the range sounds like.

I have only manage to bit up a Nova, only change it because some silly cookie run into it when it was park  , then Honda Civic for 100k and presently another Civic which has just pass the 120k mark. It just might be the year it kindly request to be retire gracefully.

Of all these nice selections what has the best acoustic or the most quietest cabin for classical stuff then?
