Celestion sl700's ~ about £500-600, if in very good condition and with stands.

I'd be wary of the Audiolab gear. Audiolab will be back on the market in September, with prices substantially below the Tag versions. Thus it may be practical to go for new gear, if the prices are low enough. In any event, lower new prices will certainly affect used prices.

Do you mean the Arcam Alpha 5 CD player? The main attraction of one of these is the possibility to send it to Avondale for modification to what some claim to be very high levels of performance (not my experience though) ~ thus the prices for a mint offering can be around £120-£130.

If you were thinking of the above as a system, then I'd be careful. The Celestions are very revealing and capable speakers. Audiolab gear is on the bright side of neutral, but again very revealing. The Alpha 5 was only ever a good'ish budget player. Into the Audiolab and Celestion you'd hear just how poor it really is!

Thanks .........no its not for me

I'm doing a favour to an old gentleman who needs to down size.

He's had dealers round but they wont touch it .....[no profit] So I said I'd see what the current prices were like.

I think that I ought to be interested in the 8000T. That said, I've already got a tuner (denon) and an 8000S to pass to decent home. Send me a PM if you want to deal.

Well, if you're buying to sell on then you should look at about £600-700 for the lot. If they were sold separately on the 'open market' then they'd probably make £1100 or so, on a good day, with a following wind!

for selling these on the bay, you would prob get more for the amps.

if i were you, and YOU wanted to buy them of this gent, then offer him 650 for the lot.
then stick 'em on epay, and make a tidy profit!

Audiolab gear goes for silly money on ePay - they sometime go for more than the equivalent (and much improved) Tag versions!!

Thanks to all who made comment .....

Had a look at the stuff ............ tatty is an understatment ...it all worked but the vol pot needed attention. I think the caps in the power amp were going to. One of the tweeters had a crease across it and shouted money, the nextel finish was chipped and scuffed....There were no original boxes either. He wanted in excess of 1K....so my offer of £450 was not appreciated !....Still if he can get the 1.5k that he wants well the best of luck.

Absolutely. I think I read the price for a new 8000P was going to be £400 for instance. Decent 2nd hand ones had been going for £300-£350 so that's bound to drop sharply I expect. Well unless people take the view that the originals are better, as to some extent happened with Audiolab stuff being more sort after than the Tag equivalents.

I wasn't happy when I saw the new 8000P price as it's going to mean the resale value of mine is going to suffer somewhat :( .

Someone mentioned Audiolab stuff tending to be bright; I'd say the pre-amps are (the 8000C especially) but not so much the power amps.

I was told Tag wasn't much of an improvement on Audiolab but the prices were hugely inflated. I recall when Tag were launched many moons ago. How I laughed when I saw the faces change and the prices go up by about half. At one time I used an 8000A integrated. Changed to Audio Innovations Series 500 EL34 valve amp, never would go back to that A/lab greyness. Still its a good workhorse and worked well with my original Arcam Alpha CD ( love that CD ! ). I've got them in storage still and occasionally I pull them out for one reason or another. If A/lab gear is getting good selling prices maybe I should actually sell it.

How tatty is the Q? My friend has an A and P along with the Audiolab CD/Dac combo so might be interested. How much better is the Q and what might he get for the A?
