    Hi guys,

Since the recent demise of my beloved Coral 777Ex cart I've been considering whether retipping could be worth the cost :rds2: What do you think? Should I just spend the money in a better cart and ditch it or should I retip it?

    Regards,

Quite an old design but actually a nice cartridge.

It was very much a 'budget' MC though so the value of a re-tip is questionable IMO.

I'd buy a Denon DL110, a completely fresh cartridge at about half the cost of the re-tip. Excellent performance too by any standards.

Thanks for the feedback, Rob :)
I'm currently spinnin' on a DL-103 alternating a AU-310 with a DatAkustik SK 1 headamp. My modified Axis /AT 1005 deck loves the combo. A Benz Boron cantilever DL-300 on a Sumiko headshell is ready, waiting to be fired up as well.
It's my first experience with Denon carts, and I must say I'm very pleased with the results so far.

    Regards,

i use my 777ex sparingly due to it's 'soon' need for a re-tip, i will have it done as it gives good enough sound to make it worthwhile imo :)
