You know God doesn't exist, right? Just thought it was worth clearing that one up at the same time.

I've tried his silver ones, which are nicely made (if I were in the market for such things, I'd be his customer for sure) against a copper freebie, but they made no difference. I can't see the addition of the inferior conductor gold making any improvement, so, no, I don't believe you. Contrary to your belief, I'm always happy to try these things, but I'm invariably disappointed. I think I'm tweak-proof!

rollo no offence taken...just making thing clear.....

I never pass coment on kit I've not got hands on experience with...as I find it much easier than speculation!

Graham nalty once said " the quality of an ic is in dirrect proportion to th cost of the conductors ".... I tend to agree

which means paladium should sound better than the gold I'm using......I've yet to try platinum as a signal conductor.

    Jimbo,
Will take challenge, its not a matter of being proved right or wrong its learning something new that counts.
Would love to try Zanash cable.I.ll pay for shipping to the other side of pond and back.It would be interesting to hear what UK based cables sound like. The members of our club would welcome any input the world community has to offer.Especially audio.
Looking to form brother club with members of club in England or anywhere in UK.Exchange Emails help each other out.The name of our club is AUDIO SYNDROME Iam the president and would again be thrilled if this could happen
The Consumer Electronics show will be in NYC this May,if anyone is going to be here at that time I would like to extend an open invitation to my home for a listen and dinner with my family and tickets to the event .Let me know.

Quality is proportional to the cost of the metal? Profit certainly is!

I concede the possibility, but it's not a bad system either, and if it lacks the appropriate resolution, I suspect so would most other folks' systems, including most of those who "hear" these differences. (Few things are as revealing as Quad ESLs).

And if it does lack the necessary resolution, as Clark said to Vivienne in the last reel of "Gone with the wind"...

Sorry, Rollo, I can't recall referring to your wire anywhere. Has senility finally struck? Don't actually know why people bother silver-coating copper, 'cos it doesn't make any difference (yes, I've tried them too! In fact, the speaker cables in my other system are silver-coated copper. And before you ask, it's QED Profile Silver 12, bought for one reason only - its extreme skinniness and thus ability to fit under little Swiss skirting boards).

    Along with all cable 'believers'.

Perhaps it’s a genetic thing... you know, like some people can taste certain things and others can't.

I propose we all agree on a CD to listen to and buy it.So when we make or comments on new equip. we can compare apples to apples.ANYONE HAVE AN IDEA SHOULD SOMEONE MAKE A CD-R we can use or just buy the same CD.

Personally I prefer the joy of being completely liberated from the tyranny of the smoke and mirrors of tweakery, and of not having to spend any money whatsoever on it, except for the occasional bit of light entertainment.

I respectfully (and only slightly facetiously) recommend this:

I would prefer "Stereo Sanctity" by Sonic Youth:

    Seven
    Seven
I'm keeping my commission to faith's transmission
Two speakers dream the same and skies turn red
Satellites flashing down orchard and delancey
I can't get laid cuz everyone is dead
    Hey - gold connections
Analog soul waving in yr hair
    Hey - hylozoic directions
    She's talking blue streaks everywhere
Your spirit is time-reversed to your body
    Stereographic mix-up field on field
It started growing up the day your body dies
    Only apparently, real to irreal
    Hey - stereo stations
    Perfect image, kneel down
    Hey - hypostatic information
Come on let's hear you turn it around

    Design approach

As far as cables and wiring are concerned I would suggest that if the amplifier in a system was originally tuned by ear to produce an acurate reproduction of the music fed to it, then possibly finding the type of wire (copper or silver) used inside the amp and continuing its use outside the amp to the speakers would produce the most 'honest' sound from that amp. I suppose if you could have the same type/cross-section of wire from the output of your source to the amp, through the amp and speaker cable and speaker crossovers then you would (from a certain phillisophical standpoint) be removing 'changes' to the music produced from changes of conducter in the system. I do hear the difference between copper and silver wire, but as to which one is better is totally dependant on the system it is used in and personnel preference as always.
