Someone on another forum got it spot on. He tries the new stuff for three to four weeks then swaps back to the old stuff. If he thinks it has not improved on the old then wont buy.
You do need time to judge something and compare to something you may have had for years. Your ears have come accustomed to the old stuff and you think it should be right. I've demo'd things and thought they dont sound any different. But when i am on my own listening to my usual music thats when i hear them, whether for the better or worse. Jim.

    Jimbo,
Thats the way I do it as well only about 2 weeks to go through my most familiar music. If its better it stays no matter what it is.
Ordered some AUDIO NOTE SILVER transformer wire to experiment with.Let you know how it sounds as speaker wire.
Will put it up against ANTI-CABLE copper sprk. cable.
This experiment should conclude the sonic merits of each type as they are the same guage. No connectors to interfere with the signal.
Has anyone else done this.Zanash are you listening, havn't heard a peep since I offered to listen to your cable. This Isn't a personal challenge its a LEARNING experience.Lets have some fun.

Take a look at this Rollo, near the bottom of the page about The Birth of a silver Master. Jim.

    Rollo,
Had a email via ebay from Zanash yesterday, his PC's HD went bang! last week, hence why he hasn't replied.
I'm sure he will reply pretty soon.
In regards to Silver speaker cable, I am running 1mm Solid Silver 4n "Zanash Design", I have also replaced the internal wiring inside my speakers.
I was using QED 20th Ann, this is Silver coated copper.....personally the Silver wins hands down, very similar to the gains you get with Silver I/C.
One things for sure, I will not go back to copper, of course this all depends on your set up, and taste.

not sure where this discussion ended but i felt i should add my pennys worth...

    two cases spring to mind..

    1) friday pete had finished setting new kit for me (as noted elsewhere under zanash/pre/buffer/deq)

whiist we were both listening pete had rigged the deq up with silver/gold cables. The build costs of these are high so i had to let him take them away; I'm not sure what he fitted in their place but we both heared the difference......though it was still very good.

    2) a previous occassion I'd asked pete to lend me some i/cs for trial, between my DAC and my pre. They gave VERY difference results, again I liked them both but for different characteistics. I don't remember what the cables were now......pete would tell you.

I would add that these i/cs were swapped around repeatedly....I had to make a choice!

    cheers,

    David

Just recalling the occassion I would add that both the cables Pete had lent me were a big improvement over the set I'd been using, which had been bought a couple of months previously off hte internet.
