    i remember watching his shows when i was a young 'un in the 70's. a very funny man.

    Hi,

    Yes, sad news. I too remembered him from the 70s. His shows were very funny with him sat on a chair, fag in one hand, drink in the other. His subject matter was on the ball and witty.

    I hope they have some re-runs.

    Also remeber him from the 70's, could you imagine the response these days if someone got on the stage with a cigeratte in one hand and a glass of whisky in the other, and then told jokes about religeon etc, Man was a comic genius.

    Remember watching his BBC shows in the 80s & early 90s.

    The godfather of irreverence in comedy. LOL all the way.

    This quip has always stuck in my mind from him:
