NAD S300 Integrated Amp - £700 (£1500 new) - output stage replaced and upgraded to latest spec by Lembrook.
Mission 775 speakers (with minor cosmetic damage) - £200 (£800 new)

Well, according to Mission - Cherry. Beech to the rest of us. Damage is minimal, couple of dinks on the edges - you really would hardly notice it. Oh - I've got some "oak cone feet" substitutes glued in place at the mo' (on the optional plinths), you may notice marks upon taking these off, but of course they are on the bottom. Nothing that really effects the WAF.

Excuse any spelling misteks, I';ve just come back vfrom a night on the beer - enjoying the UK drinking cultutre while I can...

Come on! After all the praise that has been heaped on the S300 on this very forum, I can't believe that no-one wants it!

Seconded. £700 for an amp that will easily compete with the various £2-3K "super" integrateds. Bargain.

Does it hum. I ask as I've owned one of these on 2 separate occasions and both did, not so loud as to make it unbearable, but at a level you could hear nonetheless.
Not withstanding that, one of the nicest sounds I've had was with an S300 fed by an ML390s with Red Rose Rosebud speakers. That was a long time ago system wise, but I've a new pair of Rosebuds due to arrive shortly, and was maybe thinking of reaquainting them.

It does have a barely perceptable hum, I believe it comes from the two huge Holmgren toroidal transformers. It's never affected my enjoyment.

Yes, I have check my PM. I am a bit hesitate to go higher as the S300 does not have pre-out. However, I am still deciding.
    Cheers

Why would you buy a £1500 integrated to use it as a pre?

I can tell you from the circuit diagram (I have the service manual for mine) that the pre stage of the S300 consists entirely of relays and the volume pot (and a simple AD712JN based differential amplifier for the balanced input). Why pay that much for it?
