Hmm... possibly interested. But I' prefer to hear them first and you are up North by the looks of it and I am on the sounth coast. What is a non-metal tweeter like and how does it generally affect the sound?

I have also been considering Quad 21L. Has any one had experience of these. unfortunately no shop nearby me stocks Quads?

For a simple quick fix trying fixing a single sheet of tissue paper over the tweeter. This will reduce HF output through comb-filtering. It's not ideal and a change of loudspeakers would be better.

Don't waste your money on cables. Largely the power of suggestion.

I think you'll find the meadowlarks an improvement, but they will jump into another league if you invest in a better amp at a future point too.

Just to say, don't write off all metal tweeters, there are some very very good ones around these days that are as smooth as silk lol.

I've seen a second hand Sugden A21a for 500 squids - might do the trick for ya

You could then upgrade the speakers at some later date

The wife's got a pair of woolly earmuffs she doesn't want. Really great for bright sounding systems! And they keep you toasty warm in the winter. Only problem is – they're Day-Glo pink…
