I got well addicted to the original Starcraft, which is the game that he died playing

    http://www.blizzard.com/starcraft/

Perhaps the designers of these things should design in statutory breaks after so many hours.

This sort of thing can only get worse as games become more addictive.

He mentions internet addiction in the article too, something I am trying to avoid!! - but not doing too well!!

 Kind of serves him right though. Was it Metal Gear Solid II that started telling you you'd been playing too long and its about time you took a break etc? :D

that was possibly the most dissapointing game I've ever played that one.

Metal Gear Solid 1 was so damn good, I waited with baited breath for the second.

All it was (IMHO) was a glorified expansion pack :(

    Did you think so?

I try to stay away from games like that as much as possible.

I hardly did any work for the whole month when I got halo 2. Computers (and the internet) and video games really are a life-suck device!

Dunno, I've got to be really in the right mood to spend more than say 30 mins on a game - probably cos I'm so rubbish at them I just get bored restarting all the time :D

My biggest 'marathon' was three hours on Black & White. 50 hours is a little excessive.

Also as it was not a matter of life or death surely his body would have made him sleep, shurely?

LOL call that a marathon? More of a mini snickers if you ask me.

    [Nerd hat on]
Ive been playin games since my trusty ZX81 (with 16K ram pack and overlay keyboard mind), followed by my ZX spectrum (48K with rubber keys - the ONLY spectrum ever worth having), followed by Megadrives, SNES, PCs, XboX. Always tried to complete whatever games I played (in the main I did too).
    [nerd hat off]

Now I'm 32 years young and expecting my first child in October - maybe I will lay off the games for a few years now......trouble is Ive just picked up a copy of San Andreas which Im itching to start:S

I didn't mind metal gear 2, wasn't as good but I thought it was quite funny really. Halo 2 I was massively dissapointed in though. It only took me a few nights to complete it and the story was crap, like matrix 2, 'we're setup for a trilogy now so why bother anymore' type thing.

    aaaagghhhhh

god I hate hearing that about Halo 2. I read some similar comments before buying it, and nearly didnt buy it (a crime).

Tell me that was on legendary and I just wont believe you.

nah I wanted to know how the story went and got impatient so just ran through it on normal. Did it on legendary the second time though :D Then I got bored of it which I was annoyed about cuz I managed to waste so many hours playing the same bits of Halo over and over again, esp the last level which I have down to a t. And you can't beat a bit of warthog ballet down on the beach

I've only ever really played a handfull of games "properly".

Half life, resident evil2, and metal gear solid.

I've worked my way through a few others on and off (GTA series).

I've got black and white, and deux ex, both of which i've not played for more than 5 minutes.

Bejeesus man - play deusX, complete it and then go and buy deusX2 - you will not regret it. After playing DeusX go and read the DaVinci code and play spot the similarities.

IMHO DuesX is one of the best games of ALL TIME - and Ive played a game or 3 in my time!

Black and white is very addictive once you get into it. Throwing people around and stuff is also fun.
