I was asking over on pf....woiuld that have happened 10 years ago?

Are they learnig this stuff off computer games or something?

I find it a bit worrying that this wanton cruelty (it would undoubtedly have been a very distressing death) exists ........I wonder what the motivation was?

I doubt if it was a dislike for animals as such.......i suspect a total lack of empathy for anyone/any thing is the cause.

    I really don't know.

As someone said it wouild be nice to see them swim few widths of the thames. They might learn something.

I haven't followed the link as I know it would upset me.

I don't think cruelty is learned from computer games though, I think it is a big problem which has been several generations in the making with a society which is increasingly selfish and values material things above living things..... and parents who don't have empathy themselves so what hope is their that their children will have.

Having said that, I don't fuly understand as I don't recall my mother 'teaching' empathy, it just seemed to be a natural thing. I naturally even as a small child did not want to hurt or harm someone or thing - and always respected animals and found wonder in them, loved watching them and appreciated them as creatures that feel.

There are strong links between animal cruelty and abuse against people - so anyone who thinks this isn't an important issue "because it is only an animal" needs to consider "if we tolerate this, what next?".

Although I know it perhaps isn't very empathetic of me, I could quite happily agree with physical punishment similar to the crimes committed against the people who conduct animal cruelty for 'fun'.

A certain Jeffrey Dahmer was involved in harming animals as a youngster.

Yes, it is distressing I'm afraid.

YOy hear of aniaml cruelty at times in the local paper.....but this is the worst case I ahve heared of. The animal must ahve suffered considerably......and there can only have one conclusion.

I'm sure your Mum had a her own way of encouraging the empathy.

How many times do I remember my Mumasaying "and how would you like it done to you?"....which if fator slightly lacking in the thoughts of the individuals involved here.

I guess its the utter callousness thats got to me over this.

As you say, if they are prepare to do this this time......what next?

It doesn't bode well I'm afraid.

Got a sim response over on pf from someone.....

two points here Bob (as i started this)

    1) I do in fact eat very lttle meat.

    2) The hypoicracy arguement doesn't really cut the mustard as the scenaros cannot really be compared.....animals for slaughter should (thereortically) be kept in reasoable conditions and meet a PROMP end.

I doubt if their days are ended by chortling hoodies revelling in watching their final struggles.

    3) As I said on pf....if we did all eat meat....would that make it right to throw the cat in the thames?

    Mr Bob NcC,
This is not about eating meat, it is a mascot of the armed forces.

Your quite welcome. Cant stand narrow minded dumbholes. They need to be told.

Also as you said, there is a HUGE difference between humane culling of livestock and mindless cruelty to animals, something which, sadly, Mr Bob McC appears to not be able to grasp. Probably due to small man syndrome.

Bob, the majority of people in this country eat meat. Doesn't mean that they also hate/torture animals. On the contrary the vast majority of people actually love animals and would be horrified to learn about this sort of animal abuse.

Andy, there is no need to get personal. I realise Bob wasn't exactly polite but retaliating will only make matters worse. I've edited your post.
