    Hi:

I,m looking for a 300b tube amp for my loudspeakers (90 dB,4 Ohm) I thought Cary 300SEI like a perfect candidate but I will like to know others recommendations. I dont look for an important sound pression level..I,m looking for that special tube sound.I would prefer about 10/15 Wpc

    ¿Mastersound? ¿Antique Sound Labs?:rds2:

I would like to know your recommendations and experiences.

    Thank you

    Regards

PS Apologizes for my poor english

Can only give my own experiences but if you can get a Glasshouse 300b integrated or power they are fabulous,Border patrol pricey but very good. I was not impressed by the Cary I found it to be very warm and woolly but then it was only that model I heard. Havemnt heard the Antiques Lab but have liked the ones I have heard.

Thank you very much for your answer. I have been the owner of a pair of tube amps and both works in A class. I was very happy and I want back to tubes again..

I have a Cary CD 303/300 and I was thinking about differents options like to buy a monoblocks and use the variable outputt from the CD player. I think the perfect partner of the CD is 300SEI or the monoblocks but Im not sure the volume gain from the variable outputt from 303/300 is enougth.

I was reading the analysis from Stereophile about Cary and they were astonished.

What about Glasshouse? Have you a link to have a look?

    Thank you

    Regards

    Thank you for your answer.

Well...I dont know really. :student:I think about 2000/2500€ (about 2000 pounds) I think is a good amount to buy a decent single ended triode with 300B tubes. I can extended budget a little but ...not too much;)

I,ve read many good opinions about Allnic but I dont know them. I live in Spain and not many information from them here. Im also checking Wavac and AudioNote.

The CD will be Cary 303/300 ( next future upgrade to SACD306/300 PRO from the same brand)

    Thank you again

I run a Glasshouse 300B and I think its a fantastic amp, if your speakers are 4 ohm you might just squeeze 11 -12 watts from one, but at 90db I doubt it will be loud enough unless the room is fairly small

Donovan Hi, I think you are really going to need more like 25 watts for your speakers, that means a high output single ended 805 or 211 or go parallel with 300B's hence my suggestion of the mono's.
    Very Best ,Keith.

The room is about 19m2 ( I think 200 ft2 ) I play 95% jazz with intimate sound pressure level and my loudspeakers are a rare Bolz Bellagio BG 780 from Italy. I feel very happy with them because absolutely perfect for the music I play and I think with 90dB to 4 Ohm are very easy to get a decent sound level with no many watts. I show you a picture. The finished in my loudspeakers is light wood, not the dark colour finished you can see in photo. (I have seen a Border Patrol amp near the same finishing wood colour)

Hi. Have a look at CANARY AUDIO CA 303 monoblock's, 22 watt's, they sound wonderfull and are very well built. Thay have 2 x 300 b's per amp plus 4 other valves. There are a pair for sale at WEALD AUDIO for about £2400. Look on the net for detail's.

Central Audio nr Birmingham had a Border Patrol 300B SE for about £2250 IIRC. Could be ideal.

    Thank you for your answers.

I think I will open a candidates list and I'll try to get information about them

    Cary 300SEI
    Allnic 300B
    Border Patrol
    Glasshouse
    Antique Sound Labs
    Wavac

Im not interesting to have an important sound pressure level, I prefer resolution, and the benefits of a tube sound. I looked for a loudspeakers who offer me enormous scene any sound level and I feel I need tubes sound flavour now to finish the process and to be quiet for a long time. The Bolzano company recommends a 50 watss minimun but I verified with 30W ( I have a Sugden A21SE with 40w for 4 Ohm ) they sound very well

    Thank you

I own a pair of Allnic Monos and auditioned a Border Patrol at home for a decent length of time - either of those would be great amps. You can read my thoughts on these a little more here

I agree with Keith in that you will probably need more than one 300B per channel with speakers of average sensitivity though

I have quad 300B mono's at home 50 watt output, but 8 300B's is perhaps to much!

Just two 300Bs would be fine.

KR Audio VA340, produces 20w of real music with just two KR300BXLS.
