I've just seen shane MacGowan live up at newcastle on Monday night - pure class, it was my first time that I've seen him too...he was performing with the popes and did loads of his old stuff...

he did stagger on very drunk - but he acted a pure gent and I've got utmost respect for him...

not sure when he'll be perfoming again, but it was a 5(?) gig tour that started on St paddys day...

    Yup

A class, act, saw him loads of times with the Pogues, remember seeing him outside the fridge in Brixton as we were heading for the bar and he was more than a little tiddly, I was worried he might not find the stage! Anyway it was one of the best Pogues gigs I ever saw. The best one was at the Forum, half way thru I decided to head to the back for a breather, no chance, its the only time I've seen that place jumping.

Bit hacked off that I seem to have missed this tour, but I've got SLF on Friday to look forward to.

Blimey, haven't seen Shane live for years, not since the glory days of the Pogues, who I saw an awful lot. Glad the old loon is still alive.

Anyone remember his pre-Pogues band, The Nipple Erectors (aka The Nips)?

Blimey part 2, didn't realise they were still going.

Glad the show was good. I'm surprised it happened though, many of the tours/dates that have been slated to happen have been cancelled after tickets sold etc. In one case not until half an hour after the scheduled start time did Shane's management bother to inform the venue and waiting crowd. There's certainly a bit of upset about his management over on www.shanemacgowan.com by the look of it!

I'm surprised he's still alive. Saw him in Manchester on his last tour wirh rhe Pogues before being booted out when he was downing pints of Vodka on stage. Brilliant night. Also saw the pogues with Joe Strummer, that was another great night. Both at the apollo in Ardwick.

I saw him with the Pogues on their 2001 reunion tour at Brixton Academy and they were surprisingly good. I wish I'd gone to another night there now but I wouldn't be surprised if they reform again.

For me SM strengths do not lay in his stagecraft but in his incredible song writer skills
