Oh dear... this morning on the radio I heard the new version of Pulp's "Common People" recorded by William Shatner. Wish I hadn't  . The original is a Brit-pop classic, this cover is terrible. It sounds like your Dad doing a karaoke version of it.

I think that's the idea. He recorded a famously terrible version of "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" in the 60s, this looks like a cash-in for the ironic noughties.

It'll probably get to number 1.

I want to hear this! I read about this at Pink Fish (or was it Naim?) and it cracked me up. It can't be any worse than Sam Fox's "Satisfaction" :)

Ah, well so long as Shatner isn't taking it seriously then that put's it in a very different light; I'd feared otherwise. It was first thing this morning I heard it so forgive me missing the point :) .

:ffrc: LOL! :) Classic. That's not singing that Talking over a sound track!

OH god everyone is looking at me now, ops, oh god that is the funniest thing I've heard all week!

He should have stuck to acting!

What is it with actors who think they can sing!?

    Hi

William Shatner is one of the all-time leg ends of a lunch time. I wish his singing knew some bounds. I always wonder if there is any start to his talent. It reminds me of filling in my sandwiches; ham! Also reminds of my cd racks, wooden!

I own this. I played some this at a bake off last year.

It also features the talents of Leonard Nimoy (Dr Spock). What dynamite combo! It's so bad that it is makes great listening. I might get a copy of his new cd.

Right Dean, that's IT. I'm ordering that as soon as I get paid - it's GOT to be done!!!

I still haven't heard this MP3 though - but picture this: Shatner sings The Streets - that could be class!

I quite like this version (though I couldn't really see myself listening to it maybe more than half a dozen times), what it does do is allow you to appreciate just how good the lyrics are.
