    I've never seen anything like that in my neck of the woods(North West London)but in my opinion, you were completely in the right. New queue, first come first served.

    As Ian said, better class of store, better class of people. I think i would've just ignored the monkey myself. Maybe threw him a banana :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

    I hate people get aggressive over trivial shit like that, it's pathetic, well done for standing up to him.

    That said, I agree with DavidF, in that if I'm standing a handful of customers back in a queue and a new checkout opens, I'll at least pause a second or two to see if anyone in front of me can be arsed to dive across, before I make my move. But maybe I'll move my trolley across just a bit in the meantime, to block off anyone behind me from pipping me to it if/when I do decide to move :D
