    Hi all,

I'm seriously considering buying the above mentioned cart 2nd hand off ebay, but I have a few questions...

    1. Are there any negative traits that these carts posess, such as do they fall to bits?

    2. The genuine Shure styli are too damn expensive, so I was thinking, are the Swiss copies that you can get through Mantra Audio any cop (only about £25)?

    3. How old are they, and do they deteriorate significantly with age?

    4. Is it likely to better my Goldring G1012, or indeed even a G1042?

    Thanks for reading,

    Danza.

    Danza,

If you search the archives you will find somewhere info on how to go direct to Shure and get genuine Shure replacement styli for $50 under their stylus replacement scheme. For the V15III this includes the VN35MR stylus which retails for over 100 quid and allegedly takes this cart to a similar level to the current V15VxMR incarnation.

    Hope this helps.
