Here is an opportunity to buy Sistrum platforms which are very rarely available in the UK. I will be moving overseas in the next few weeks and recent increases in the cost of international transportation mean that my budget will not allow me to take most of my audio system with me. Among the items I need to sell are a pair of Sistrum SP-004 platforms and a single SP-1 platform.

If you haven’t heard of Sistrum platforms, you can find details on the website of the manufacturer (http://www.starsoundtechnologies.com/SinglePlatforms.HTML), where you will also masses of rave reviews (under 'Reviews'). For more independent (but equally positive) views, you can also search for ‘sistrum’ on US audio forums such as www.audiogon.com. Put very crudely, Sistrum platforms work by both channeling vibrations away from the audio components which sit on them (a bit like Vertex AQ) and preventing outside vibrations entering the component. They are made entirely of metal (the cones or audiopoints are a special kind of brass), which makes them expensive to make and to ship—which is one reason why they are very rare in the UK. I think it also makes them look pretty tidy, too—check out the photos on the manufacturer’s webpage.

The SP-004 platforms are the smallest Sistrums. According to the manufacturer, ‘the SP-004 is an extremely versatile platform vehicle. The principal uses are placement below floorstanding loudspeaker systems [ie in place of the normal spikes], smaller tube amplifiers such as lower powered triode designs as well as all the newer more compact chassis digital amplifiers. Another dynamic use for the SP-004 is between the mini-monitor and speaker stand. This inclusion guarantees you will be listening to a “new and highly improved” pair of speakers.’

The SP-1 is described as ‘a step up in sonic and performance versus that of their smaller brothers the SP-003 and 004’ and is mainly intended as a high performance platform for bigger components, such as large amplifiers.

The SP-004 platforms cost $299.99 each or $579.99 per pair in the US, while the SP-1 platform goes for $469.99 each. As far as I can discover there is no UK retail price for either of these models because the UK agent only seems to bring in the top-of-the–range SP-101 platforms (which cost £725 or $839 each in the US).

All three Sistrum platforms are in excellent condition: £180 ono for the pair of SP-004s and £160 ono for the single SP-1, including delivery. Some kind of deal would be possible if someone wants the lot.

Pair of SP-004`s. I have recently purchased these from Paul, but my speakers are just to big for them and are too "tippy" when placed on them, so I am putting them back up for sale. If interested please pm me for any other details.
Paul, I hope you don`t mind me bringing this thread back to the front.

    Cheers
