Does anybody know of any very small integrated amplifiers? About the size of a filofax or a video case or smaller? Doesnt have to have many facilities or power, just small size and portability.

    Ta muchly.

You could easily build one. You'd get best results with a small switch-mode power supply (simply because you'd not fit a meaningful linear supply in), and a small switching amp, either analogue or digital input class D.

Ermmm no I couldnt easily build one. My soldering skills are non-existant. All I remember from two years in electronics class is the resistor colour code and I dont even know what that means.

I'm a big fan of letting someone else do the donkey work.

the nait 1 & 2 are 1/2 the width of a normal hi-fi component but the same depth and height. the 3 & 5 are 1/2 the height but normal width and depth.

I am surprise the masters of miniturisation from the likes of Sony or Denon haven't made something small enough for you in their catalog.

I remember many years ago drooling over Micromega very cute micro system. Wonder if anyone here has the privilage of owning one. Are they as good as they look?

Julian, didn't the phono inputs and speaker outputs look bloody stupid on the end of a credit card?

Or did I miss something here?

I've just bought (and still waiting on) a McCormack Micro integrated drive, small Headphone/integrated, I will run it from tape out but is happy with sources and can run phones from normal jacksand has binding posts to attach speakers, pretty small, slightly bigger than you mention not that portable but smaller than cyrus, and puts out about 5-8w/ch and a bit more with an uprated PS, they are not exactly prolific, but I found a guy on headfi selling one and they come up on AG fairly often.

Pics are for mocro headphone amp, much the same but with binding posts, has 2 line level inputs.

    ok mr pedantic.
it was a bit thicker than your common or garden cridit card (i think it used little headphone sockets). it was connected up to a cd walkman and some small speakers iirc.
    cheers

NVA AP10x is the size of 2 video cassettes on top of each other. Discontinued now, but sure you'd find one 2nd hand somewhere...

All good stuff, I guess I should have added the size thing is so it could be put in a laptop/holdall bag and be taken as part of a laptop - USB soundcard with lineout - small amp - small speakers type scenario. So if I go away for any long period of time I can rig up a reasonable system.

The usual portable speakers just sound awful but I've been trying to find either a portable amp or some small monitors (M-Audio stuff).

What about portable heaphone amp that fits in mint tin(think it is various flavours of PPA), and decent phones? Won't annoy others in hotel etc.
