I just bought a copy of 'Sniffin Glue - the essential punk accessory'. For those that don't know sniffin glue was a legendry short lived punk fanzine written. The book reprints all the SG issues, has a very interesting preface and some fantastic photo's. it's a fantastic document of the time. god even the advertisments are great.

It's easily found on amazon and is a perfect present for the old punk who has everything.

I heard about this on Radio 2 (of all places) from the author himself, while stuck in the long drawn out car park (the M5) during my final move from Reading 2 weeks ago - I'm definitely considering buying this myself - it sounds great.

How big are the facsimiles of the articles (partially sighted)?

I'd like the Kurt Cobain diaries book as well...

Definitely interested in this punk book. Don't know why you're surprised about hearing about it on Radio 2 though Dom, they're the only national radio station that's likely to carry such info. these days. Their target audience - 21-50 odd - includes all the old punks!

Not so sure about the Kurt Cobain diaries. That seems like a cash in to me, can't recall if Ms Love is behind it, but wouldn't be surprised. Someones personal diaries should remain their own...

Perhaps, but if you're willing to show someone what the insides of your head look like splattered all over the floor (sorry, no disrespect - but you can see the metaphor) then a book is nothing.

Courtney Love is one hell of a cash in artiste though - although did you know she was in Sid and Nancy?

That Curt and Courtney film was, shall we say, enlightening though - I still maintain he was murdered, personally.

My god John, stop dredging up my youth.

Most famous Sniffin' Glue cover was a quick guitar tutorial. Here's a chord. Here's another one. Now form a band.

Anyone who wants to know what Sniffin' Glue editor Mark P ended up doing musically should get hold of the first ATV album, The Image Has Cracked. One of the all time greats.

Has anyone out there read Vacant: A Diary Of The Punk Years 1976-1979? Amazon appear to be including it on a Perfect Partners promotion with Sniffin Glue. Looks like it could be an interesting read.

There's also a compilation CD which was released this year, can't find a tracklisting for it though. I assume it's something to do with the book though, or just a cash in on the title?
