Its so hot in my room at the moment. 28 celcius and rising, according to my clock. I have a floorstanding fan sitting a foot away and i am still roasting hot.

Not going to get much sleep tonight, I bet

May I suggest that you strap one of these [IMG] to the overheated body part, as you can see this is a passive cooler and so makes no sound - ideal for use at night.

The other option is to use a [IMG] but as this is powered the sound and viberations may keep you and the neighbours up all night!

I used to know a guy near Bristol, who fits industrial air-con. He fixed my car system for a good price, and offered to get me industrial stuff for home, if I wanted. When I get my final house, I'm going to have rolling fog, from the attic down, every summer. Anyone interested, I'll try to find him.

    29 degrees!?!!?

That's about 10 degrees too hot for me (summer plays havoc with my system since I already overheat in winter due to high metabolism)...

Just so long as it doesn't turn into a mudfest at Glasters this year though... Mmm - 2 weeks tomorrow!

Yeah, and I know it will get even worse, I am fairly sure there were days last year where it was well into the 30's. Like you, I also overheat normally, so while it might not bother some people, I really suffer during the summer!

However, today is not turning out to be very warm at the minute, we are having a thunderstorm here!!

Think that's hot do you. It's no more than pleasantly warm ;) In July and August, the temperature here does not drop below 28 celcius (not to mention the 80%+ humidity) at any time.
Actually, you do adjust: Hot for me nowadays is above 35 c (tht's the temperature i start thinking about turning the aircon on at). Peking and Seoul are hotter, and of course somewhere like Sao Paulo is way hotter and even muggier. It's the humidity and the lack of a breeze that are really hard to deal with. Before a Typhoon hits, the air pressure builds along with the humidity and it often seems like the air is thick enough to slice. It can be hard work breathing. The rain comes as a real relief.

I've just spent all day in a stuffy conference room with no windows, air con not working, recorded temperature of 29.6C...

What is it with us Brits? We whinge if it's too cold, too wet, too hot? Just enjoy it, soon as the first raindrop falls it'll be the wettest summer anyone can remember :D

Thoroughly enjoyed the last two lunchtimes, sitting outside eating lunch down by the river, much better than the morgue that is our staffroom.

Today was hot enough thanks! Spent most of the morning moving redundant IT kit down to one of our store rooms. Air con wasn't working brilliantly in the building either!

i look like a lobster and i'm loving it. walked out of pc world today from a/c into the blistering heat and it felt like i was on holiday. all it needed was cicadas, strange plants and exotic asian women in bikini's and wrap skirts and it would have been perfect.
    cheers

And of course, I really enjoy feeling light headed, sweaty and tired (due to sleep deprivation thanks to high temperatures) because its too hot! Not everyone enjoys it :(

Besides, has anyone noticed in Britain, our hot weather may not be that hot in absolute terms, but its never particularly a pleasant heat - very humid, and stuffy.

Definately. It gets to 45C here in Lisbon in the summer which is not pleasant but that week last year in London when it was in the high 30s was far worse. London is much more humid and then you've also got the pollution and all the transport chaos that seems to go with weather that strays out of the train companies 5C operating window  . Oh, and standing in a packed tube train at 55C with only the BO of your fellow passengers to breath is one of the less pleasurable things one can do :(

I hated London in the summer, for the reasons above. Here in Glasgow it's nice 'n cool - about 20 celsius today.
