.. whether in dining room, kitchen, car or bedroom, what makes up your second system, how long has it been stable, and what makes it 'OK'?

Mine is a set of Yamaha separates:
    CDX-670 CD Player + KX-650 Cassette Player + RX-V660 Receiver
usually into Celestion Ditton 15s (circa 1976) but now into JMLab Electra 905s while they wait on their (as yet unknown) new owner.

[ed: circa 1994, located in dining room since upgrade in living room in 2000]

I suspect that we have a few surprises in store ...

Same source into a Technics SA-R230L tuner amp and then to either a pair of Realistic Minimus 7's (Small metal enclosure speakers) or a pair of DIY transmission lines using £30 car speakers. Also sometimes listen on AKG K55 headphones. I have them all on the same source to compare my mixes on different systems.

No the DIY transmission lines using £30 car speakers don't have anything to do with 'the best speakers in the world'. It's a complete coincidence that I made them to use the speakers that were spare. They sound shit. ?though I am quite proud of the enclosure design!

I used to have a bedroom system, but never listened to it so ebayed it (Marantz CDP, Mission DAC, Kenwood 3030R, Kef Cresta 3s). Being fair, sounded pretty good when I could be bothered.

The closest I have now is a Sony diskman that I use in the office with some Sennheiser in ear headphones.

Like bottleneck, my first system plays loud enough to be heard all over the house.

My second system is in the car...

The speakers are the factory fitted ones in the Renault.
    As it's a posh version, they aren't bad :)

Technics mini system in the kitchen, that only gets used with the speakers outside in the summer as my main system is loud enough for the kitchen.

I have some apple/harmon kardon soundsticks plugged into my mac for office use.

Mobile tunes, standard head unit (Becker) with optional bose upgrade  I hate bose but its the best factory fit sound and isn't bad at all but they do charge £750 extra for it, and another £350 if sir wants the multichanger.
