I have had the meadowlarks for 2 months now. The damage that was done to the binding posts has yet to be sorted.
He said he would source new parts for me. I got fed up waiting after 2 weeks.
I sourced the parts for this and passed the info on. The dealers said he would order them.
Two weeks went by and i contacted him again asking where they were, as i had seen on the suppliers site that they estiate 3 - 5 day delivery to UK. He waffled a bit and said he would look into it. Again one week later i mailed him, he replied after a few days, saying that the supplier shipped to the wrong address. That seemed odd, as the supplier will only ship to the card holders address. He then told me that they had sent another pair on super fast delivery. Another 10 days....... I then hear from him saying that he had recieved them and posted them to me. That was tuesday last week.
Guess what, Nothing, zilch, no delivery. I have mailed again, and not had a reply. All through this he has made no attempt to keep me up to date on the situation, unless i contact him, even then he frequently did not reply.

So, I have some rather large boxes that are meant to be speakers. Yes i have been using them, with a piece of wire twisted around the broken post. I only have to re-tighten the twisted wire every few days:rolleyes:

Where do i stand with this?
Can I source other spares myself and bill the lazy ****?
I have thought of telling him to expect a parcel and give me a full refund, but i have yet to find another pair for sale.

I am getting quietly angry now!

not too far to travel is it?

how much are the new binding posts?

if i were in your position, i'd go in with a print-out of the items and stand there while he orders them.

you did get written proof that he said he would buy the replacements?

appologies for the disjointed post, getting up in the am after so long it doing strange things to my head.

    Mike,
    Thanks.
I have email proof that he said he had ordered.
The parts arent much in value.
Unfortunately he is a tad to far away.

if it's the dealer i'm thinking it is i too have had problems with him. i arranged to visit, travelled 200 odd miles! and the git didn't turn up. recently i thought i'd give him another try and started an e-mail dialogue with him about some speakers. i asked for some basic info on them and he mailed back saying he was busy and would get to it 'tomorrow' still nothing and now i can't afford to buy any new speakers thanks to a duff washing machine so his loss... my mind boggles as to how these people stay in business.
    cheers

Sounds like the same guy Julian.

I asked for a serial number of an amp he was selling, not long after i had purchased the Kestrels. Thinking he would be very accomodating due to the speaker situation. Exactly the same, said he would get the number and mail me, i never heard back about that.
I certainly would not entertain using him again, and would recommend others look elsewhere.

If speakers are not as described, and defective, suggest you make copiuos notes of the situation, send em back, ask for full refund and if he refuses, get a lawyer and the small claims court pdq, he hasn't a leg to stand on.
    you need evidence tho'

I had a really sorry affair with something I bought off an independant.

These types can be a lot worse than big dealers for problems. I quite like big chain stores now, all that security and its not their own cash to lose

Bought it off ebay, damaged in transit, couldn't get it going myself, guy said he would take it back to fix.
Email after email, phone call after phone call, months, said he would fix, got court forms, made records of all emails and that, he said still he would fix if I stopped harassing him.
    Nothing.
more mails unreturned, phone calls, managed to get him here and there, excuses, excuses. mails, calls.....
EVENTUALLY, over a year later, he said it was fixed, and I collected, it was, and works, I left him to it so hopefully he would attend.
I was going to lose patience eventually and set a few deadlines.
Last one was going to be this xmas when I really would have gone to court and get my cash back.
He was 50 minutes late when we met. I have no idea whatsoever how he keeps in business. Absolute unreliable. Cannot depend at all. At least he did keep his word and fixed it to a good standard. but totally utterly shambolic and unacceptable. 14 months wait.

Yes I think you're right penance.

Personally in the same situation I'd be giving trading standards a call, see what they say - as soon as retailers get a letter from them they tend to move fast to resolve the issue. We've found trading standards always to be very helpful, though we only used them once (My dad went to them advice on rejecting a car that was seriousl faulty, a new passat that spent 42 days in the garage during our nearly 6 months of ownership, and when it wasn't in the garage it still exhibited a lot of electrical faults. In the end we got a new one of VW :)).

I bought my amplifier from what I believe to be the same source (and he said he had been using it in his dem room with a pair of kestrels, so it could even be the same pair). I didn't get the remote, and chased it up a few times.

Eventually I asked Richer Sounds if they had a spare NAD amp remote, which they did and gave me free of charge (as I'd had to get my dvd player exchanged).

Score 1 Richer sounds, 0 to "other player"

    Hi Penance,

I have had a few dealings with Dave and I can only say that he has been one of the best, and certainly the cheapest, sellers I have ever dealt with!

The only downside as you have discovered is that he is an extremely busy fellow, mobile constantly ringing, deals constantly being struck, etc, etc...

Luckily as you have also discovered he is honest if somewhat disorganised and he keeps a promise.

For the cheap prices you pay if using him I think a little drop in customer service can be tolerated, especially as he is a one man band running a very busy business.

If you want first class customer service then go to a well staffed High Street chain and pay full price! :JOEL:
I suspect this is the reason some end up with one make systems; they get treated like a King at Audio-T and keep coming back for more wallet emptying ego stroking! :D

    To summarise:
    S/H = cheap = less 'individual attention'.
I have no problems with that if the price is right!
