I am looking for some relatively quiet music with a good clean lower bass and not too much happening higher up the feq. range, let's say late night jazzy or funky music with good quality low bass, maybe. Or something like Wraped Around My Finger by Police. I just want to hear clearly what my new speakers can do in 30-50 Hz range. Any ideas? Many thanks.

Maybe this would be useful? Not music, but if all you want to do is test your speakers' performance, it should do fine.

Dire Straits - Dire Straits (6 blade knife)
JJ Cale - Naturally (After midnight)
The Doors - LA Woman (Cars hiss by my window)
James Brown - Hell (Papa don't take no mess, I can't stand it 76)

    Don't have any Police records

Thanks guys. I have found another good album on my shelf - Temptation by Holly Cole - Tom Waits covers with very clever, nuanced bass and .. hardly anything else :)

"Clint" from "Current Events" by John Abercrombie / Marc Johnson and Peter Erskine has always been a track I've used to test bass extension.

When Marc starts on the bottom string of the 5 string bass, you need good bass to hear it.

Add "Node" by "Node". Although this is a Moog synth playing bass, it's not a one-note 'dance' bass at all. Worth a spin.

Well, just stumbled upon a CD in my cupboard.
It is called Test CD No1 "Bass Tones, Tastes, Textures and Transients". :D

As one musician once said : "I forgot more than others know" :D:D

The album 'Tropic Affair' by Jim Brock is quite literraly late night jazz. It is on Referrence Recordings and is available on vinyl and CD.

If you like to listen very low frequencies you should buy the Roger Waters Amused to death
